Exhibition Identity

,

2023

The concept for this exhibition's visual identity stemmed from the reflection of the Angkor Wat temple complex in the water surrounding it. Using repetition through reflection expressed the exhibition's key thematic takeaway of cultural resilience and continuity. The wordmark was crafted to reference the architecture of the temple complex through the unique flat-domed shape of the top of the ‘A’.

Global Threads invites viewers to discover how, through trade routes, encounters, and exchange, Indian Chintz textiles connected cultures, inspired imitation and changed the world. Three main themes formed the basis of the creative direction: pattern, craft, and the tension between the handmade and the industrial. The team wanted the work to highlight the tactility of the exhibits, so a grid structure radiating out from the centre was developed to feature the colourful and intricate textile patterns as well as wood and textile textures.
